OpenOBD (“OpenOBD”, “we”, “the app”) is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what the app accesses on your device and how your information is handled.
OpenOBD has no user accounts and does not collect or transmit your personal data. Everything the app records stays on your device.
All data the app creates — live vehicle readings, trip history, GPS routes, fuel statistics, and diagnostic (fault-code) results — is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that receive this data, and we do not sell or share it.
With your permission, OpenOBD accesses your location, including in the background, for one purpose: to record the GPS route of your trips and show it on a map. Location data never leaves your device. You can turn off location access at any time in iOS Settings; trip recording will continue without the route.
OpenOBD uses Bluetooth and your local network only to connect to your OBD2 (ELM327) adapter and read data from your vehicle. This communication is between your device and the adapter; no data is sent to us.
The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising trackers and does not track you across other apps or websites.
The app may contact our update service (Expo) to download app updates. These requests do not include your personal data.
Because your data is stored only on your device, you stay in control. Deleting a trip removes it from the app, and removing the app deletes all of its data from your device.
OpenOBD is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest version.
